You control the rather dashing fella, Dashmo, going through several layers of catacombs & demons, collecting Ascension Crystals in order to go to The Great Beyond. Will you make it?

This game is incredibly good! I love the vibes, the artstyle and the music as well! If i had one suggestion, it would be to either add more invicility frames at the start (at least until you start moving) or make the location you're spawning more readable, because i had quite a few times where i spawned, couldn't find my character, and took damage without even know where i was.

Other than that, this game is fantastic! Great job!

Nice game! Really wish there was half a second or a second of completely paused time before each room started, just to have some time to see what room it is before having to move.

Nice balancing with being unable to change direction while jumping, it works well with how strong dash jumps are since you can cover 2/3rds of the width with them.
Would be nice if dashes didn't force you to dash in your viewing direction if you hold it down, and that it remembers you holding dash when switching rooms.
Big hitboxes on the Ascension Crystals feels really nice, makes it possible to do some really cool routes in some rooms, especially combined dashing gaining speed the longer you hold it.

Would be nice to go to specific levels rather than having to restart from the first layer every time. Highscore and highest layer doesn't seem to be saved, and always just shows the current run.

Highest I've gotten so far is 300 score 4 layers

Run, dash, jump and dash some more in this cute little game; which in another life could easily have been a well loved arcade classic from the late 80's!

Amazing game in general but i have a few feedback/nit pick for it:

the character in general is hard to locate:

1.the player sprite isnt always shown at the top layer which leads to ^




2.after arriving at the new room the character flashes and there are some frames where it is not visible

i had trouble locating where i am at a new room sometimes

maybe a slow down on every new room would help that out while also giving the player a little time to figure out the room



the barrels/walls can be hard to see sometimes

bug:

layer 5 doesnt unlock if you pick ascend at the end

subjective opinions:

dashing forces the player forward and takes control away from the player while the game requires precise and very quick movements,which i subjectively think it might be better for the player to have more control and allow them to move freely during dash

the same goes for dash jumping which locks the player to the jump direction(While the normal jump does not)

some rooms in layer 4 feels hell on earth with the nemesis ghost,it turns the game into how much damage boost do i need to do before i can get out of this room asap

that said,speed clearing rooms with 0 mistakes is very satisfying
